What exactly is the Tech-Air® MX?
It is a fully autonomous, tether-free airbag system embedded within a compact chest and back armour. It uses internal sensors and algorithms developed from years of collecting professional crash data to detect an imminent crash and deploy the airbag before impact, offering maximum upper body protection.
How much does the Tech-Air® MX cost in the UK?
The Alpinestars Tech-Air MX System has a UK retail price of £569.99. Replacement argon canisters will also be available in the future.
Will it deploy just from jumping or casing a jump?
No. The sophistication stems from the crash detection algorithm, which has been refined over thousands of hours of professional rider data to differentiate between aggressive riding (such as ruts, berms, jumps, and whoops) and an actual crash that requires deployment. This system is why the selectable Riding Modes are so important—they adjust the sensitivity to your specific discipline.
What happens after the airbag deploys?
The airbag remains fully inflated for about five seconds to absorb the impact, then automatically deflates. You can continue riding with the standard CE Level 1 passive chest and back protection without any concerns. But, to prepare it for the next ride, simply repack the airbag and replace the single argon gas canister yourself.
Do I need to send the unit in for service after a deployment?
The system is designed to be fully reusable with a user-replaceable canister. The bladder is designed to be certified for up to6 deployments before requiring replacement, provided it hasn't been damaged during the first five.
Can I wear a neck brace with the Tech-Air® MX?
No. The Tech-Air MX is designed to be worn independently and should not be used in conjunction with other protective gear, such as neck braces.
How do I turn the system on and off?
Activating it is incredibly easy. Simplyattach the left buckle of the system to the Tech-Air MX chest protector; an internal magnetic switch will automatically activate the Airbag System. Removing the left buckle will automatically turn it off.
Who handles the warranty and technical support?
All warranty claims, technical support, and servicing assistance must be handled through the original retailer where the system was purchased. As a certified Alpinestars dealer, Bikers World can only assist with warranty claims, issues, and questions for units purchased directly from us. By buying from us, you ensure you have a dedicated UK-based team to support your product.

The correct fit is essential for the Tech-Air® MX to function as intended and provide maximum comfort.
At Bikers World, we are stocking the Tech-Air MX in men's sizes, ranging from small (S) to 2XL (XXL). (Smaller sizes are currently in development by Alpinestars.)
The Tech-Air® MX is designed to be worn like a shirt/vest, offering a close, body-hugging fit to maximise comfort and freedom of movement. As a general guide, the system will fit similarly to your standard shirt size. However, if you typically wear a jersey or shirt with a very loose fit, we recommend considering sizing down to ensure the core protection sits snugly against your body.
The streamlined, low-profile construction is made from a breathable stretch mesh, keeping the protection close to the rider's body. Additionally, the robust internal housing is integrated into the CE-certified Nucleon PLASMA back protector, enabling the system to be worn over or under any properly fitting apparelwith sufficient room to accommodate the inflation of the airbag during a deployment event.
